A crimping tool is a mechanical device used to join two pieces of ductile material most commonly an electrical wire and a metal connector by compressing and permanently deforming one or both pieces to hold each other. This physical deformation creates a secure, solderless connection known as a "crimp". A proper crimp mechanically bonds the components and forms a "cold weld," creating a gas-tight seal that blocks out moisture and prevents electrical shortages or corrosion.
Networking & Telecom: Technicians use specific modular crimpers to attach RJ-45 connectors to Ethernet cables and RJ-11 connectors to telephone.
